Lenox Lounge Review

This world renown Jazz club opened in 1939. If its walls could speak, you would hear the echoes of Billie Holiday, Dizzie Gillespie, John Coltrane and Miles Davis performing in the dazzling Zebra Room. Lenox Lounge was frequented by James Baldwin, Langston Hughes, Malcolm X and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.; In 1988, it was restored the original Art Deco interior. More recently, it was featured in an American Gangster scene where Denzel Washington’s character, Frank Lucas, meets with Cuba Gooding Jr’s character (Nicky Barnes) in the Zebra Room. Let us hope the new owner preserves its jazz heritage.
