Stretching 60 miles from the North Carolina border to Georgetown, South Carolina’s Grand Strand of beaches is one of America’s most popular tourist destinations in the U.S. Along this ample portion of the Atlantic Ocean coastline, you’ll find diversions that range from old fishing villages, sport fishing, cottages, motels, small hotels, large hotels, condos, amusement parks, historic beaches, old resorts, new golf resorts, plantations, and seaports. Though most famous as the home of Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Murrells Inlet, Pawley’s Island and Georgetown bring distinct identities to this strand along US Highway 17. Keep an open mind, and plenty of towels, and sunscreen for serendipitous stops along the way. Everything is within short driving distance.

Pawleys Island
Pawley’s Island is one of the oldest resorts on the Atlantic Coast and was once home to one of the nation’s largest rice plantations and today hosts one of the nation’s largest outdoor sculpture collections.
