The Elser Miami

I arrived at The Elser Hotel Miami at 3 pm, an hour before official check-in. No problem. The concierge smiled, stored my luggage, and suggested I chill in the lobby or take a short stroll across Biscayne Boulevard to Bayside Marketplace. I chose the latter. Moments later, I was sipping a chilled rosé overlooking the marina, watching day cruise ships gleam in the afternoon sun.
The Elser’s location makes it one of Miami’s premier pre-cruise hotels — modern, convenient, and soaked in sunshine. When I finally reached my room, high above Downtown Miami, the view stopped me cold. From my north-facing balcony, Biscayne Bay shimmered to the right, a silver-blue expanse catching the late light, while ahead of me, Miami’s skyline stretched toward the horizon—sleek, sculptural towers like the exoskeleton-framed One Thousand Museum, reshaping the city’s profile.

Inside, comfort meets technology. The room features a walk-in shower, a compact kitchen, and a well-stocked mini-fridge. Even the gym offers floor-to-ceiling views of the skyline, while a swivel TV-mirror and plush furnishings remind you this is a property designed for travelers who appreciate detail.
From my stand-up balcony, I could see the historic Freedom Tower, once the gateway for thousands of Cuban families arriving in America—a powerful reminder of Miami’s layered immigrant story. Across the street was Kaseya Center. Nouveau modern skyscrapers like a column of chess pieces, settled ahead me along Biscayne Boulevard.
After a sample gourmet chocolate in my room, that same energy carries into Elser Bay Terrace, the hotel’s rooftop bar, bistro and lounge.

After the elevator ride and strut to the terrace edge, I caught sweeping views of the Port of Miami, the world’s largest cruise capital, where ships from every major line await their next voyage. Whether at happy hour or late under the string lights, this terrace feels like Miami’s heartbeat with a view.
Guests booking a minimum two-night stay enjoy a $50 daily food and beverage credit, redeemable at Elser Bay Terrace—an easy reason to linger longer over tapas, small plates, or another glass of rosé as Biscayne’s skyline sparkles below.
At street level, The Elser’s ViceVersa—a sleek Italian aperitivo bar—continues the hotel’s love affair with taste and design. Recently honored in the Michelin Guide, ViceVersa was conceived by Valentino Longo and the team behind Jaguar Sun, blending Italian elegance with Miami rhythm. The cocktail menu nods to the classics — Americano, Milano-Torino, Negroni—while infusing them with modern twists and local ingredients.
Even as a wine devotee, I couldn’t resist sampling their Spicy Margherita with Barolo marmalade and pineapple, followed by a Venetian Spritz featuring orange wine, mezcal, and aperitivo.

Real Talk. The food is world-class. ViceVersa’s raw bar tempts with Treasure Coast oysters, Royal Red Shrimp carpaccio, and Middleneck clams with yucateco negro. Appetizers like wood-fired flatbread, fennel salad, and house-made culatello pair effortlessly with cocktails.
But the star attraction is their Neapolitan pizza, crafted with locally milled flour, 48-hour fermented dough, and daily-stretched mozzarella. The clam with lemon and scallion and mortadella with ricotta and pistachio are both revelations. And yes, there’s house-made gelato to finish.
If you prefer dining al fresco, Elser Bay Terrace—perched 123 feet above Biscayne Boulevard—is a rooftop destination all its own. Open daily from early breakfast through late evening, the terrace offers shaded seating, signature dishes by Executive Chef Antony Awak, and cocktails that seem made for Miami’s golden hour.
Whether you’re savoring sunset happy hour or brunch under blue skies, the terrace offers the kind of panoramic city and bay views few hotels can match.

When it’s time to unwind, the 132-foot L-shaped pool beckons. With plush towels, a lively bar, and a massive UHD screen showing sports highlights or full games, it’s an urban oasis perfect for relaxing before or after your cruise.
For travelers heading to Kaseya Center, The Elser’s location couldn’t be better—just a short walk or quick ride from Miami’s hub of concerts and sports events. Peek the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade monument out front.
The Uber or taxi ride from MIA Airport reaches downtown in minutes, and the MetroMover station three blocks west provides effortless local access.
And if you’re in the mood for retail therapy, visit nearby Miami Worldcenter. Its anchored by upscale boutiques, Lucky Strike bowling alley, a garden-style Apple Store, and who would have guessed, the Museum of Ice Cream, only a few blocks away.
In a city where every sunrise and sunset competes for attention, The Elser Hotel Miami offers the best seat in the house—a sky-high sanctuary where modern design, culinary artistry, and sweeping Biscayne Bay views meet to create an unforgettable pre-cruise experience.
