Las Vegas Lower Strip

Friends in front of Paris Las Vegas and more of the Las Vegas Lower Strip

Las Vegas Lower Strip

When you enter Las Vegas from the airport or I-15 Freeway, you are greeted by an orgy of mega-resorts: Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York-New York, T-Mobile Arena, MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood Resort, Park MGM, Bellagio and Paris Las Vegas. Tropicana (1957) and Bally’s (1973) are the only vintage casino resorts remaining on the Las Vegas Lower Strip. Las Vegas Lower Strip extends from Flamingo Road south to Mandalay Bay.

MGM Grand
DESCRIPTION: The first billion dollar resort on The Strip, MGM Grand rivals Mandalay Bay and Caesars Palace for hosting the biggest entertainment events in Las Vegas. Grand Garden Arena is the joint during championship boxing and UFC matches — that’s when the big money roles into Vegas. If you roll in with jet lag or get a hangover while here, you’ll be pleased to know that MGM has 42 Wellness Rooms that have 12 features to help you quickly recover. Today, celebrity DJ’s keep the music playing at the palatial Hakkasan Nightclub. Day or night, the party is also on at Wet Republic Ultra Pool, 54,500-square-foot venue comprised of saltwater pools, dipping pools, daybeds, banquets, bungalows and cabanas. The adult pool is a place to mix, mingle and dance. MGM Grand’s fine dining establishments include Craftsteak by Tom Colicchio, Joel Robuchan, L’Atelier, plus 4100 wine selections from 14 sommeliers determined to make your stay abnormally good. Specialty dining is provided by Diego Mexican Cuisine, Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House, Fiamma Italian Cuisine, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, Nob Hill Tavern by Michael Mina, Pearl Chinese Cuisine, Shibuya Japanese Cuisine. Casual dining options include Rainforest Cafe, The Grand Wok, and MGM Grand Buffet. Though the Lion Habitat is gone, MGM has added fast food options Cabana Grill, Starbucks, Stage Deli, Studio Cafe, Nathan’s Hot Dogs and Project Pie Pizza. The shopping selection is surprisingly small by standards on the Strip, but the Sugar Factory, Optica and Watch Boutique are well worth visiting. CSI: The Experience is a charming attraction for those who like the TV series that started in Vegas – it will hold your attention for 40 minutes as you solve a murder mystery. Centrifuge Bar and Rouge lounge are good hang-outs for cocktails before deciding your evening. KÀ is the featured Cirque du Soleil show in its own astonishing performance space. It is inspired by the ancient Egyptian belief in the “Ka”, an invisible spiritual duplicate of the body that accompanies every human being throughout their life and into the next. At Hollywood Theater, every show by David Copperfield proves why he is the best magician of our time.
