DESCRIPTION: A perfect place to take the kids, this 78-acre interactive science center is popular for its interactive features. The most eye-catching exhibit is the Magic Wings Butterfly House, a 17,000 square foot three-story butterfly house. Durham Bulls Athletic Park

Duke Lemur Center

West Point on the Eno
DESCRIPTION: This 404-acre city park located along a 2-mile stretch of the Eno River and 6 miles north of downtown Durham. It was the home of the Shocco and Eno Indians. Today, it features a 1778 working grist mill, a blacksmith shop and several other re-created or renovated facilities from the 19th century. It includes hiking trails, river streams for fishing and a popular amphitheater. Frog Hollow also offers boat rentals.

Cameron Indoor Stadium
DESCRIPTION: For college basketball fans, it doesn’t get any better than this. The historic, but renovated, indoor stadium seats 9,314 and is home to the Duke Blue Devils, winners of several NCAA basketball championships. Fans love being so close to the action and players. Duke Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski, lovingly called “Coach K”, may be as famous as arena since he also coaches Mens Basketball Team USA in the Olympics.

Dean Smith Center
DESCRIPTION: A multi-purpose arena primarily used as the home for the U. of North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team. It was timed to opened the day before the 18 January 1986 game against the arch-rival Duke Blue Devils. The building is named in honor of its legendary basketball coach and carries the formal name Dean E. Smith Student Activities Center. It seats 21,750 patrons for basketball games and occasionally, its most famous alumnus drops in, Michael Jordan. The venue has also been used to host concerts, graduations, other sporting events, and a speech by Barack Obama when campaigning for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
