Walter’s Soul Food Cafe Review
When you walk in, the first thing you notice is old school R&B playing on the loud speakers. That gets you in the mood for some good, down-home cooking. Walter has been here for 20 years, and seen the neighborhood change from a crime ridden strip along Cleveland Avenue to new development where celebrities drop in. Though known as the “King of the Oxtails”, his beef brisket, BBQ chicken, fried chicken, fried fish and baby back ribs are just as good. Walter handles the meats, while his wife Lucile cooks sides suc has collard greens, yams, macaroni and cheese, cabbage and blackeyed peas. For $10 you can buy great Soul Food with old school music playing in the background. Speaking of music, Cee Lo Green does a shout-out to Walter’s in his song Soul Food.
