The island’s tropical climate averages 80 degrees. As a result, the “dress code” is always “island casual.”

Hurricane season is July to October. With the island’s tropical climate, brief showers can come at any time.

Currency is the U.S. dollars with credit cards accepted by some establishments.

You can make phone calls from phone booths around the island. Get a local phone card for the best rates.

The main post office is located in Road Town. Post office hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday and 9am-12pm Saturday.

Banks are open from 9am-2:30pm Monday-Thursday, 9am-2:30pm and 4:30pm-6pm Friday. Most stores are open 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday.

Passports are required for U.S. citizens.

Drink bottled water when available. Bring sunglasses, a hat and plenty of sunscreen lotion.

Electricity is the same as the U.S.

If you rent a car, remember to drive on the left.
