DESCRIPTION: Opened in 1986, this museum led the renaissance of downtown; in 2003, the museum inaugurated its Studio School offering courses in painting, drawing, design, and other disciplines taught by professional artists; An active performing arts program, including Inside Out as its resident theater company, is scheduled in the Museum’s 256-seat Horvitz Auditorium; the complex includes a permanent African art collection

Broward Center for the Performing Arts
DESCRIPTION: Opened in 1991 on 5 acres, it features a magnificent 2,700-seat Au Rene Theater and the intimate 590-seat Amaturo Theater; collectively, the venues present Broadway musicals, comedy, dance, ballet, pop music, R&B, classical and opera performances year round; BCPA is convenient located near other downtown attractions and restaurants

Fort Lauderdale Historical Museum
DESCRIPTION: Located in the city’s first hotel on the banks of the new river, the museum’s permanent collection and changing exhibits depict the development of Fort Lauderdale; did you know the city of Fort Lauderdale is named for a fort built during the Second Seminole War on the banks of the New River; admission includes a self-guided tour of the 1905 New River Inn, the first building in Broward County to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places AND A guided tour of the 1907 King-Cromartie House, a pioneer house museum, and the 1899 Replica School House.

Parker Playhouse
DESCRIPTION: Opened in 1967, this neo-classical venue is managed now by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts; it features a 1,167-seat fully equipped theater to host concerts, repertory plays and special events to big for Amaturo Theater, but too small for Au Rene Theater

Miramar Cultural Center & Artspark
DESCRIPTION: This multi-purpose performing arts complex contains an 800-seat theater, two art galleries and a botanical garden. Much of its programming reflects diverse mixture of African American and West Indian cultures, with a keen eye towards reflecting the best features of progressive 21st Century city. It hosts touring Broadway shows, national concert artists, dance troupes, repertory theatre, Christmas-themed, top-notch Jazz concerts and major art exhibits. It even hosted a reception in honor of Nelson Mandela.

Lauderhill Performing Arts Center
DESCRIPTION: Located in Central Broward Regional Park, this $11.6 million venue is LEED Silver-certified. A multi-purpose performing arts complex, it features a 1,143-seat auditorium with Proscenium Stage and a state-of-the-art slight & sound system. It hosts touring Broadway shows, national concert artists, dance troupes, literature readings, Jazz concerts and major art exhibits. Boyz II Men recently performed here.
