HISTORY


   Texas College, a historically black college providing a liberal arts education since 1894, exists to help people succeed by assisting them in developing their skills and their self-confidence, as well as enlarging their perspectives on life. We are dedicated to providing citizens of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds with the opportunity for life-long learning. It is governed by the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

 

 

ACADEMIC MERIT

 

   Texas College offers 16 baccalaureate degree programs within three divisions. Majors may be declared in: Art, Biology, Business Administration, Computer Science, English, Education, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Political Science, Liberal Studies, Social Work and Sociology. The College offers two associate of arts degrees in Early Childhood Education and General Studies. We also have an Alternative Certification Teacher Education program for persons who already have their baccalaureate degrees. It has a 1:8 Faculty to Students ratio.
