Back in the day it was called “The Avenue,” and anything and everything happened along it.  Spanning two 2 days and one night, the tour takes you to numerous historical and significant stops along Texas Avenue, what is now Shreveport’s main street.  Stops include to the famous Huddie Ledbetter statue of the legendary blues singer; 800 to 1000 Block, the business center and social center for Blacks in Shreveport and the surrounding area, historic churches, the Texas Street Bridge, Municipal Auditorium, Stephens African American Museum and much more; Texas Street is Highway 80 and extends all way to Grand Prairie, Texas
