Heinz Hall

DESCRIPTION: Formerly the Penn Theater built in 1927, now home of the world famous Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, this 2,847-seat opal and marble interior hall is mindful of its beginnings, but two major renovations have taken it to another level -- better sightlines, acoustics and comfort; Howard Heinz Endowment saved the building from the wrecking ball in 1968 and it reopened as Heinz Hall after renovation in 1971; a second more elaborate restoration completed in 1995

Benedum Center for the Performing Arts
DESCRIPTION: Formerly the Stanley Theater, this venue reopened in 1987 after a major renovation; now a remarkable piece of eye-candy with over 90 chandeliers and sconces inside this 2,800-seat theater housing the Pittsburgh Opera, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Civic Light Opera and Pittsburgh Dance Council and touring Broadway productions; Registered with the National Trust for Historic Places; this public treasure features a stage comparable in size to the New York Metropolitan Opera

Byham Theater
DESCRIPTION: Built in 1903, Pittsburgh’s oldest performing arts venue hosts 1,300-patrons; restored to its early splendor also served as a vaudeville house and reopened in the 1930s as a movie palace; today Pittsburgh based arts productions and national touring companies in music, dance and performing arts for children share the stage

O’Reilly Theater

New Hazlette Theatre
DESCRIPTION: Designed in a Richardson Romanesque style, the venue was built in 1889 as the Carnegie Musical Hall; a historic landmark, it also houses one of the first Carnegie Free Libraries in the country; In 1967, theater space and auditorium were renovated; Hazlett Theater was home to the Pittsburgh Public Theater 1974-1999, then moved to the O’Reilly Theater downtown; New Hazlette Theater formed in its original place in 2004

City Theatre

MCG Jazz Hall
