MOBILE TRANSPORTATION
AIR
Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), a regional airport, consists of a 2-story terminal with expansion plans. Today it primarily features flights to Atlanta, Birmingham, Jackson, Orlando, New Orleans, Memphis and Nashville.

Mobile Regional Airport
Rental Cars: Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz and National serve the airport. Using Airport Blvd, MOB airport is about 20 miles west of downtown. Do not confuse your directions with Mobile Downtown Airport for executives.
Shuttles & Taxi include Mobile Bay Transportation (251-633-5693), Capital Transportation (251-634-9944), Yellow Cab (251-476-7711) and Mobile Cab & Baggage 251-476-7711
TRAINS
There is no Amtrak train service to Mobile at present.
The good news is Alabama and Mississippi are collectively working on High Speed Rail plans. Since Amtrak Cresent train service currently links Atlanta to Birmingham to Meridian, plans by the two states call for developing these two routes in the near future:
Atlanta-Birmingham-Montgomery-Mobile-Gulfport
Atlanta-Birmingham-Meridian-Jackson
For larger context about how this development helps American transportation, see this article about progress towards an Interstate High Speed Rail Network.
Mobile Freeway System: Traffic from the airport is only heavy during commute hours. Wisely, transportation planners made I-10 Freeway tunnels under Mobile River to preserve better views of the waterfront. As a small city, there are only 3 freeways complimented with several highways:
10 Interstate freeway through Mobile and along the Gulf Coast
43 US Highway from Tuscaloosa south to Mobile
45 US Highway
56 Airport Boulevard to Downtown
65 Interstate Freeway from Birmingham intersects I-10
90 US Highway/Government Blvd intersects Downtown and I-10
165 Interstate freeway spur from I-65, connecting to Downtown
