Jackson International Airport (JAN) is a regional airport with limited direct flights, but plenty to DFW and ATL. Car Rentals: The airport is located off I-55 Freeway northbound, approximately 10 miles northeast of Downtown. Car rental companies include Alamo (800-327-9633), Avis (601-939-5853), Budget (601-939-0571), Hertz (601-939-5312), National (800-227-7368). Taxi pick-up at the airport terminal lower level. Cab fare from the airport to downtown is $20-$25, plus a charge for each piece of luggage. JIA airport and downtown are the only reliable places to catch a taxi. Taxis include Citi-Cab (601-355-8319), Deluxe Cab (601-948-4761), Independent Cab (601-354-1792) and Veterans Cab (601-355-8319)
Amtrak service is hosted at Jackson's Union Station. It’s a comfortable place with a shop for snacks and gifts at 300 West Capitol Street.

Jackson public transit system (JATRAN) is the intercity/rural bus provider.
Jackson Freeway Network surrounds the central city. Driving here by car is best via Interstates 20 or 55 or by US Highway 49. The freeways are seldom overcrowded:
20 Interstate from eastern Alabama through Jackson to Louisiana
49 US Route connects Jackson to Hattiesburg to Gulfport, MS
55 Interstate from Memphis to near New Orleans
80 US Route passing East-West through Downtown
220 Interstate connecting Jackson with I-55 and I-20 freeways
